Hi Rob,
All three platforms have their unique features. PowToon was designed to be the best value so it’s simply for that reason that we are so much cheaper. The guys at Sparkol are great and have a very unique “whiteboarding” product while Goanimate is strong with greeting cards and education packages. PowToon is highly focused on Business presentations and explainer videos and we will be introducing some very big new features geared for those markets in the near future. Most of the time involved in creating an explainer is figuring out the script and the plot. The actual animation takes a few hours – up to two days for new users. PS. Adding a great sound track is key and in just a few hours we are uploading a new sound management feature.

I want to be able to create typical whiteboard animations and also engaging, fun explainer videos. Powtoon looks like the best value, but I’m just wondering why it’s cheaper than Sparkol, and so much cheaper than Goanimate, currently around $600 for a year! If I just need whiteboard and explainer videos, is Powtoon enough. Also, 1 more important question, how long would it take to create a decent 1 min, videoscribe and also how long to create a decent explainer video? Thanks.

I synced it by just counting the seconds roughly and then I synced the animations to the sound. Syncing the animations to the sounds is a lot easier to do than vice versa. I’ll do a blogpost on this matter in a few weeks – I will link up some websites that offer nice sound effects too. Thanks!
